The The Super CitriMax® Clinical Studies

In two of the most comprehensive clinical studies ever conducted on HCA, researchers at Georgetown University Medical Center (Washington, D.C.) and Andhra University (Visakhapatnam, India) found that subjects taking higher doses of a more bioavailable form of HCA, Super CitriMax (U.S. Patents 6,160,173 and 6,395,296,6,875,891 and world-wide patents pending), not only resulted in significant weight loss, but increased fat burning, lowered cholesterol, increased beneficial HDL cholesterol and decreased Body Mass Index (BMI), an indicator of healthy body weight. The studies also revealed some surprising new results: optimal doses of Super CitriMax significantly increased levels of serum serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved in mood, sleep and appetite control, which may also address many of the emotional issues overweight people face, including binge-eating and depression.

The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical studies were conducted using Super CitriMax®, a patented, standardized calcium/potassium (-)hydroxycitric acid (HCA) extract containing 60% HCA. Approximately 90 moderately obese human subjects were enrolled in the studies. All subjects were placed on a daily diet of 2,000 Kcal. Food was prepared and delivered to the subjects, and food intake was strictly supervised by trained dieticians. Subjects also underwent a 30 minute walking exercise program, 5 days a week, which was supervised by a trained exercise specialist. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups. The first group was given a placebo and the second group was given a daily dose of Super CitriMax 4,667 mg (providing 2,800 mg HCA per day) in three equally divided doses of 30-60 minutes before breakfast, lunch and dinner for eight weeks. Dosage levels of HCA were determined by extrapolation of successful earlier animal trials, as well as optimal micromolar concentrations of HCA in ex vivo brain tissue resulting in maximum serotonin release. Changes in body weight, lipid profile (triglycerides, LDL, HDL and total cholesterol), serum serotonin levels (a mechanism of appetite control), Body Mass Index (BMI,
